The Eeeeew
Just making a designated thread for specifically EU-related news.
NYT: EU's Migrant Crisis is straining the EU's open border policy like never before and also Main train station in Budapest cuts of services to migrants due to "under pressure from a far-right anti-immigrant party with a sizable voice in Parliament", which would be these legit neo-nazis.
In unrelated news, Papers, Please 2 coming soon!

Re: The Eeeeew
One comment I made elsewhere after seeing the initial Cameron comment was that he actually really misplayed that.
That's actually a really dumb response from a strategic point of view. Fearmongering has been losing a good deal of it's power because it's so heavily overplayed - and that particular comment is so floridly over the top that all it does is legitimize Corbyn as a threat to the Tories. It'd have been a much stronger play to mock Corbyn as incompetent. Or at least just use a hint of fearmongering and let the audience's own fears do the chipping away on their own.
Not that I'm complaining about an asshole tory misplaying a what could have been a strong hand...

on one side, the uk media is disgusting and clearly picking on corbyn
on the other, corbyn could stand to play up a little less the role of Anti-Monarchist Friend To All Extremist Groups when they give him ammo
because the road to the left is pretty long already

that some fauntleroy put his dick in pig bits to be let into some frat is not at all surprising. it is, however, hilarious.

John Oliver's segment last week was wonderful, but it did make me wince a little when he kept using "refugee" and "migrant" interchangeably.

I've seen at least three variations of that joke over the years, nearly word for word, depending on the regional situation.

Early results for Brexit vote are leaning towards "stay", but it's too close to call at the moment.

Re: The Eeeeew
Uhhh... votes now leaning "leave" with a surprisingly high "leave" turnout at reporting polls. Worse still, the "European Nate Silver" is predicting a 97% probability of a "Leave" vote.
Uh Oh.
Uh Oh.
Re: The Eeeeew
Reminder that the Brexit vote is a non-binding referendum of the people that doesn't even obligate Parliament to vote on whether they want to exit the EU.
