I feel like something that is launched to promote the sales of a new toy, like the Transformers cartoon, is different from a movie made out of an existing toy IP, like Clue or the Lego Movie. Even if those were also definitely trying to boost sales.

New Spider-man franchise: Spectacular Spider-man. No origin story, high school based, involves beginnings of Sinister Six. So basically .. we're rebooting the last movie in the series. Intro movie apparently involves Iron Man in some antagonistic capacity with Spidey trying to get into the Avengers, which already sounds like a clusterfuck if they're going to use that AND Sinister Six groundwork. But I want a Spider-man series I can get behind. I'm going to stick my fingers in my ears and hope for the best and continue wishing they hadn't spent the last several years fucking around and pissing away their good will.
